Tap to Pay on iPhone FAQ's

Why did my charge not go through, or why is the charge showing as Incomplete?
Your charge may not have gone through yet if you didn’t see the “Success!” message in the app. After Apple shows the “Done” message, the payment can still be processing in the background. If you close the app too early or lose connection before the “Success!” screen appears, the charge will remain marked as Incomplete until it fully processes.

Tip: Check the Transactions tab to see the current payment status. If it still shows “Incomplete”, please retry the payment.
Why do I need to reconnect to Tap to Pay on iPhone every time I reopen the app?
For security reasons, you must reconnect to Tap to Pay on iPhone each time you open the app. This helps protect your payment information and prevents unauthorized access.

How does Tap to Pay on iPhone actually work?
Tap to Pay uses NFC (Near Field Communication) to securely transmit payment data between a customer’s card or digital wallet and a merchant’s device. When a card or phone is tapped, it sends a one-time encrypted token, not the actual card number, to the payment processor. The processor routes it through the card network to the issuing bank, which authorizes or declines the transaction within seconds. No sensitive data is stored on the merchant’s device, ensuring compliance and security.
Is Tap to Pay on iPhone secure?
Yes. Tap to Pay is generally more secure than swiping a magnetic stripe. Key security features:

Tokenization: each transaction uses a unique encrypted token instead of your real card number, so intercepted data is useless.

Encryption: data transmitted between the card and terminal is encrypted, preventing unauthorized access.

Short range: NFC works only within a few centimeters, making remote skimming nearly impossible.

Authentication: phones and smartwatches typically require biometric verification such as Face ID or fingerprint for approval.
